ORE Part 2 Preparation, Close to Home in Birmingham

Birmingham and the wider West Midlands host a large number of internationally qualified dentists working towards GDC registration. OREPass runs hands-on ORE Part 2 preparation at a partner practice in the Birmingham area, giving candidates across the Midlands realistic manikin and clinical OSCE practice close to home.

Clinical Curriculum

9 Modules — Every Station the Examiners Assess

Our ORE Part 2 programme is built around the actual GDC examination format — covering every station type with structured practice and expert coaching.

Clinical Examination

Structured extra-oral and intra-oral examination technique, lymph node assessment, TMJ examination, soft tissue screening and charting to UK standards — practised on manikins and observed on real patients.

Treatment Planning

Comprehensive treatment planning for complex cases — prioritising care, risk assessment, evidence-based decisions and presenting options to patients in a UK-appropriate manner.

Restorative Dentistry

Cavity preparation and composite/amalgam placement on manikin teeth, shade selection, matrix systems, finishing and polishing — with step-by-step observation of live restorations.

Local Anaesthesia

Inferior alveolar nerve block, buccal infiltration, palatal and mental nerve block technique. Aspiration, cartridge loading, post-injection protocol and management of adverse reactions.

Radiography & Interpretation

UK radiation regulations (IR(ME)R & IRR17), periapical and bitewing interpretation, CBCT awareness, film mounting and systematic radiographic assessment with timed exercises.

Medical Emergencies

Recognition and management of anaphylaxis, syncope, angina, asthma attack, hypoglycaemia and epilepsy in the dental setting. Drug protocols, emergency kit and CPR refresher.

Periodontal Assessment

Basic Periodontal Examination (BPE), periodontal charting, probing technique, furcation assessment, disease classification and treatment planning across severities.

Patient Communication & Consent

UK-specific consent law (Montgomery), explaining treatment options clearly, managing anxious patients and writing clinical notes to the required standard.

Infection Control & Decontamination

HTM 01-05 compliance, instrument decontamination cycles, cross-infection control, PPE protocols and CQC standards as they apply to the GDC examination framework.

From Manikin
to Mock OSCE

Every session follows the same structured arc — building your skills and confidence from controlled practice through to exam-condition simulation.

Briefing & Technique Overview

Each session opens with a structured briefing covering clinical rationale, the OSCE marking criteria and the most common candidate mistakes — so you know exactly what the examiner is looking for.

Manikin Practice

You practise on dental manikins (typodont models) in fully equipped surgeries using the same instruments and materials as real clinical practice — building muscle memory without time pressure.

Live Patient Shadowing

With patient consent, you observe our practitioners performing real procedures — history-taking, examination, treatment and communication. Clinical context a model or textbook simply cannot replicate.

Timed Mock OSCE Stations

We run timed simulations replicating the pressure, format and expectations of the real ORE Part 2 OSCE. Our trainers act as examiners and give you an honest assessment of your level.

Written Feedback & Action Plan

You leave every session with a written performance report — strengths, specific areas to improve and a personalised study plan to focus your preparation before exam day.
