From Egyptian dental qualification to GDC registration — everything you need to know
Egypt has a strong dental education tradition with world-class universities producing well-rounded graduates. Many Egyptian dentists choose to extend their careers to the UK — a process that requires passing the GDC's Overseas Registration Examination (ORE). With OREPass, Egyptian candidates can prepare for ORE Part 1 online, with access to 7,000+ GDC-aligned SBA questions, detailed explanations in English and an AI Study Tutor.
Egyptian dental education is typically a 5-year BDS programme, with degrees awarded by universities recognised by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities. The Egyptian Syndicate of Dentists is the professional registration body. The GDC requires Egyptian-qualified dentists to pass both ORE Part 1 and Part 2 before applying for registration. GDC applications will require evidence of your Egyptian degree and current registration with the relevant Egyptian authority.
Confirm your Egyptian Syndicate of Dentists / Dental regulatory body degree meets the GDC's eligibility criteria to sit the ORE. You can check eligibility on the GDC website or contact their international registration team.
Apply to sit ORE Part 1 through the GDC website. The exam is held twice yearly — typically March and September. Application windows open several months before the exam date.
Start your OREPass free trial and work through the 7,000+ question bank. Use the mock exams to simulate exam conditions and track your performance by domain.
Sit your Part 1 at a Pearson VUE centre in the UK. Pass mark is 70%. Results are typically available within a few weeks.
Prepare for the Part 2 OSCE clinical exam. The Yardley Clinic in Birmingham — our official partner practice — provides structured ORE Part 2 training.
Once you have passed both parts, you can apply for full GDC registration as a dentist and begin practising in the UK.
Egyptian dental graduates often have strong anatomy and dental materials foundations from their training. The GDC-specific areas to prioritise are UK radiation law, infection control standards, the consent framework under the Montgomery ruling, and GDC professional standards.
OREPass helps Egyptian-qualified dentists prepare for GDC ORE Part 1 from anywhere in the world. Our question bank, mock exams, AI Tutor and personalised study plan give you everything you need to pass — first time.
